MAYAN PLAZA

During your visit to Maya Key, you will have the opportunity to explore the Mayan Plaza and walk through a replica of Copan's Popol Na. The Popol Na was established in the year 746 AD during the government of Smoke Monkey and served as the center of political discussion in the ancient world. Also known as the "Mat House," it was used as a Council House where prominent community members would sit on mats and debate public matters. When you step inside the building, you will discover a vivid mural depicting one such session.
